SOMA & COCOA
A Visual Identity and Cultural Strategy for a Premium Chocolate Brand
In a market overwhelmed by visual clichés, SOMA & COCOA set out to restore a sense of sacredness to the act of tasting chocolate. The brand seeks to elevate chocolate beyond mere pleasure — transforming it into a ritual, a sensorial bridge between the physical and the spiritual.
Fiklore Design was commissioned to develop a complete brand identity — including naming, storytelling, symbolism, and packaging — that harmonizes ancient mythology with contemporary refinement.
“Soma,” the sacred elixir of the gods in Vedic mythology, represents divine ecstasy and the ascent of the soul. “Cocoa,” the pure essence of chocolate, embodies nature’s nourishment and earthly grounding. Together, they form SOMA & COCOA — a poetic union of divinity and nature, celebrating taste as a sacred experience.
The narrative reframes chocolate not as indulgence, but as a ritual of return — a moment of presence, depth, and spiritual restoration.
The visual identity balances mystical reverence with organic warmth. Copper and umber tones convey both celestial energy and grounded richness, while soft off-white hues offer serenity. The typography pairs a sculptural geometric serif with a minimal sans serif, reflecting the duality of ancient wisdom and modern clarity.
The packaging system emphasizes tactility, layering, and ceremony. Each box is crafted from uncoated specialty paper with debossed symbols and subtle gold-foil accents. An inner vellum wrap, printed with delicate line patterns, creates a luminous reveal — turning the unwrapping process into a gentle ritual.
Across product series, nuanced shifts in texture and metallic detailing maintain unity while enhancing sensory depth, reinforcing an atmosphere of quiet luxury.
Through this identity, SOMA & COCOA transcends category convention. It becomes not just a chocolate brand, but a cultural statement — a sensorial dialogue between nature and the divine.
It reframes indulgence as mindful elevation, positioning chocolate as a modern ritual for the senses.
